IBD1120 Ku-Band (11.20-11.70GHz) to L-Band (950-1450MHz)
Peak Communications was formed in 1995 and began by manufacturing the P701 L band frequency downconverter. The addition of the Upconverter module in 1996 enabled Peak Communications to produce the P702 L band upconverter and then also the P700 L band Up/Down converter in a single 1RU. Over time the product range has increased to include 19" rack mount and remote mount block up and down converters covering the main satellite operating frequencies including X, C and Ku Bands. The integration of these block converters into a P700 converter facilitated full frequency conversion from IF to SHF via L band. In 2003 the P7000 range of converters was launched to supersed the P700 range.
The 19 inch 1U rack mounted IBD series of Block Frequency DownConverter units from Peak Communications are designed to take the incoming SHF signal and produce an output at L-Band that is suitable for direct connection to an L-band demodulator or for further conversion typically by a P7001 synthesised DownConverter.
The IBD series of units are mains powered and are constructed of high grade components to give the ultimate performance. They utilise Externally Phase Locked Dielectric Resonator Oscillators (XPDROs) and are far superior in stability and phase noise to Voltage Controlled Oscillators (VCOs), as commonly used in other BUC designs.
These converters are single stage converters apart from the IBD340 which is a dual stage unit.
