PBU137 Ku-Band (13.75-14.50GHz)
Peak Communications was formed in 1995 and began by manufacturing the P701 L band frequency downconverter. The addition of the Upconverter module in 1996 enabled Peak Communications to produce the P702 L band upconverter and then also the P700 L band Up/Down converter in a single 1RU. Over time the product range has increased to include 19" rack mount and remote mount block up and down converters covering the main satellite operating frequencies including X, C and Ku Bands. The integration of these block converters into a P700 converter facilitated full frequency conversion from IF to SHF via L band. In 2003 the P7000 range of converters was launched to supersed the P700 range.
The PBU Series remote mounted, Block UpConverter units from Peak Communications are designed to be fully compatible with a wide range of L-Band modulators and frequency converters. This high grade range of PBU outdoor units will accept the L-band output of a P7000 Series UpConverter or modem and provide the frequency conversion to SHF bands.
The PBU Series utilise Externally Phase Locked Dielectric Resonator Oscillators (XPDROs) and are far superior in stability and phase noise to Voltage Controlled Oscillators (VCOs), as commonly used in other BUC designs.
The unit will automatically detect when an external 10MHz locking signal is applied, alternatively the unit will automatically switch to the stable internal 10MHz reference signal.
