RBU137-2 1 for 2 Redundant Ku-Band Block UpConverter System

Peak Communications was formed in 1995 and began by manufacturing the P701 L band frequency downconverter. The addition of the Upconverter module in 1996 enabled Peak Communications to produce the P702 L band upconverter and then also the P700 L band Up/Down converter in a single 1RU. Over time the product range has increased to include 19" rack mount and remote mount block up and down converters covering the main satellite operating frequencies including X, C and Ku Bands. The integration of these block converters into a P700 converter facilitated full frequency conversion from IF to SHF via L band. In 2003 the P7000 range of converters was launched to supersed the P700 range.

The RBU137-2 1:2 Redundant Ku-Band Block UpConverter system is designed to provide redundancy for a dual-feed Ku-Band UpConverter system, maintaining maximum availability whilst allowing routine maintenance and repair work to be carried out on the standby converter without the normally associated down-time.
The RBU137-2 system maintains two converters on-line whilst the other is held in hot standby, allowing the user to select the on-line converters. The redundancy unit can be controlled from the front panel (Local mode) or by the RS232/RS485 link to a host computer (Remote mode). In remote mode, the on-line converters can be selected and monitored whilst keeping switch-over automatic in case of failure.
In AUTO mode, the RCU200control unit monitors the converter alarm signals via the interface connecting cables and if a fault condition develops within an on-line converter, the RCU200 automatically switches traffic to the standby unit.
All units are mains powered and are constructed of high grade components to give the ultimate stability, ripple and phase noise performance
