Peak Communications was formed in 1995 and began by manufacturing the P701 L band frequency downconverter. The addition of the Upconverter module in 1996 enabled Peak Communications to produce the P702 L band upconverter and then also the P700 L band Up/Down converter in a single 1RU. Over time the product range has increased to include 19" rack mount and remote mount block up and down converters covering the main satellite operating frequencies including X, C and Ku Bands. The integration of these block converters into a P700 converter facilitated full frequency conversion from IF to SHF via L band. In 2003 the P7000 range of converters was launched to supersed the P700 range.
The RCU50 1:1 Redundancy control unit is a special version of the versatile RCU100 Redundancy switch unit and is presented in a 1U high 19” rack mount chassis. The RCU50 unit is designed to power and monitor a pair of remote Low Noise Blocks (LNB’s), Block UpConverters (BUC’s) or Block DownConverters (BDC’s) and drive a remote coaxial or waveguide switch. An optional 10MHz reference signal can also be provided.
The RCU50 can be controlled from the front panel or by the RS232/RS485 link to a host computer. In remote mode the active LNB/BUC/BDC unit can be selected and monitored while keeping switch-over automatic in case of failure. An internal L-band coaxial switch changes as the active converter unit is selected.
The front panel has 2 switches and 5 indicator lights with legends for either LNB/BDC’s or BUC’s and should be specified accordingly at the time of order placement.
The flexibility of the design allows for customisation (please consult the factory if the features that you require are not shown on this data sheet).
